Tom Catmull and the Clerics: painless bio

Tom Catmull and the Clerics

clerics_black_and_white.jpg

Predictably tough to pin the music into one neat and tidy genre, Tom Catmull and the Clerics present an electrified, roots-driven sound supported by the upright bass, pedal steel/electric guitar, acoustic guitar, drums and some leaping around.   Imagine the aggressive nature of the Old 97's occasionally reined in by the lyrical and musical flavorings of John Hiatt or Phil Lee.  Now, imagine yourself wearing a silly hat.  Anyway,...with last years release of Glamour Puss, this band has furthered its reputation to both showcase original music AND leave people sweaty and exhausted at 1:30am.   Tom and the Clerics have been voted "Best Local Musician" and "Best Local Band"(respectively) by the Missoula Independents Annual "Best Of" Readers Poll for 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011!  How's that for flag wavin'?  Go Clerics!
