No Matt! Seattle does get plenty of good music, but we don't EVER get Tom and the Clerics! Thanks Tom for your consideration. ;)

ellen-sanbox is mostly about poop, anyway...if you really listen to the lyrics! The 3rd was fun for sure. The soak was worth coming back for! The 4th, unfortunately, wasn't much different crowdwise. But everybody there was REALLY NICE and we did have fun playing. Thanks for comin' out! See you soon!

Hi Heather! Thanks for chimin' in. Chris and Molly are obviously a pretty special couple, ...and I know that sounds cheezy, but listening to round after round of toasts given by people truly moved by their fondness alone,...it seemed like a pretty special night. Thanks for the kind words!

Hey Fellas!
I'm from North Dakota, but I was at Molly and Chris Healow's Wedding just outside Missoula this past weekend (June 21), and heard your band for the first time.
It was totally awesome! It really made for a perfect evening! The music fit the whole feel of the wedding, and you couldn't help but get up and dance! I absolutely loved you guys and your upbeat folk music--I'm glad they had you play.
We all had a great time dancing and singing along!
Cheers,
Heather

Tom C.,
That is really funny what you wrote about CD Baby on your home page. I just got an email from them today. They told me they admired my fine taste in music and then offerred me some: Bob Martin, Rachel Harrington and Willie Nelson. I replied back, "you guys are too funny. How 'bout Tom Catmull's latest?" I'm waiting to hear back from them.

Hey man,
The new album is incredible. We burned laser grooves in the first one and had to have it replaced. Any chance you can post lyrics to the unfamiliar "Accidental Blue". I think it's incredibly compelling, maybe even one of your best ... despite the fact I can't figure out some of the words. But then again, as a native-born Frenchman, I hope to be forgiven for my struggles with your language.

Dear "Mr. Ash",
Apologies. My older brother turned me on to this distributor, but they will only take a wee little bit of product at a time. And I can only gain there trust one CD release at a time. By the time I'm 60, I should be able to stock appropriately for a new release. I will patiently wait for the intimidating glare of your firms letterhead.
humbly yours,

I must have gotten yours, slowpoke!
June 4, 2008
Dear Mr. Catmull,
I write to voice my concern about certain deceptive trade practices appearing on your site, and to request that your marketing director contact me immediately. Specifically, I reference the statement on your opening page, said to be written by you (or alternatively, one of your agents or representatives acting on your behalf and with your authority), to wit: 'new cd is available from this site,...I swear it! - June 3, 2008'." This is not so.
The true facts are that your CD is NOT available, and that my clients - including but not limited to your FAMILY, have been relegated to a purported "waiting list" developed by some outfit called "CD-BABY". Said CD-BABY reports that there are no CD's to be had, which has lead to the infliction of emotional distress, by you, to all concerned.
I am shocked and amazed that despite repeated inquiries, you maintain what amounts to a fraudulent deception on your website. A class action suit will follow naming you, individually, as well as your drummer because well, he's a drummer and he needs suin', unless you take immediate steps to remedy the situation.
Regards,
Jack Ash, Esq.

Karla-Hey! Let me know if you're comin' to Montana! My family would love to meet the Schardin' brood!! Gas prices be damned!
...and yes, the new disc is in!...although I think you were part of the mass mailing that got that info an hour ago, hopefully. Hope all is well!
Pam and Shanna!-For some reason, I thought there was only one N in your name, Shanna. And I thought pammmm was spelled with 4 m's. Dangit! God bless your childeren for their impeccable musical taste and influential parents. Eventually, whatever music you like will be deemed nerdy, so I only want a couple more years of your influence, then I want you to just casually leave cd's near the home stereo, but don't say anything directly about the disc itself. Hope you guys are doin' well! Pam, I put you on the email list. It seemed like you weren't there. If you're suddenly receiving 2 emails for each message, let me know.

Hey Tom!
Is the CD ready yet? I'm excited to get one! Still missing the good ol' days. Ahhhh.
I'd like to take the family to Missoula this fall, if we can afford the gas, maybe we'll only get as far as South Dakota. Damn Gas! But we'd love to see you play again! Hope you are doing well.
Peace.

Wife #1-Operation Biga seemed successful. He did seem suprised, but Travis and I shouldn't have parked so close to place. We sang Happy Birthday at Salmon, and for his present, he didn't have to take a solo. He was overwhelmed with emotion at sentiment, I believe.

Hey Tom--I know you are reading this. I just wanted to let you know I moved in to the guestbook page and I'm leaving dirty dishes and laundry everywhere and I may have left a water bottle in the van this weekend.
Number 2! Missed you on V-day. All the wives except #1 of course came over and made food. Glad to hear you will be back so soon! Tom did paste up a picture in the "pics" section of use wearing tuxes. Strange how the beard made me look so short.
"Jodi." - I'm not sure if "Mike" has recieved your message but I'll be sure and pass it on to him. The beard went to the recycling center last week (see note above about beard-induced optical illusions).

Hey Joe... Where you going with that gun in your hand....
Actually I have Songs on the Radio on vinyl, but nothing to play it on. Maybe Shake will have Cd's for sale on Sunday. The guitar player in my band was the producer for Songs on the Radio and was the one who coordinated Shake performing on Sunday.

Joe
November 1, 2007
July and August were hot and humid, just like June and September, come to think of it October had some 90+ suck to my couch, can't breathe without cutting off a slice of air first days... I find that I can usually consume enough beer spritzers to have a stranger tell me that it would have been wise for me to keep my pants on while smashing the beer bottles over my head. Add WT 101 to the mix, and I fear the next morning I might find myself in the emergency room with my newest transgender Pilipino wife/husband trying to explain to me in broken English how I got that spider web tattoo on my neck and 3 Mexican prostitutes ended up with my kidneys... The moral of this story is:
Even if you are a transplant to the south that can’t hold your liquor, an evening of chugging alcopop, retaining your original paired organs, and listening to TC and the Clerics is better than bad neck tattoos and surprise weddings to Asian girly-boys.

There are worse times to be south of the mason-dixon line than oct. try july and august. By the way, surely you can get some wild turkey 101. Beam and coke, might as well order a beer spritzer.

October 24, 2007
Nov 9th 2007...
I will be dreaming about drinking too many Olys and beam/coke doubles at Chico, while I am giving an awkward fish science talk to a bunch of biology professors below the Mason-Dixon Line. Getting wasted in Montana beats public speaking in the south 10:1.

Duck- YOU LUCKY BASTARD! That is awesome! I would just love to see that guy play again. Its been like 20 years now. Ridiculous. He must in his mid 50's, maybe? "Special Music" sounds kind of scary, though. It not like a "lock-in", or anything like that, is it? I could only take "travelin' texas" a few times in a row before I started losin' it.

Ryan- Thanks for offering to open up. Its always kind of a fun dynamic and you sounded great. Deathbed or not.
Nancy- I'm kind of trolling for forks a little these days. Thanks for reading the ramblings.

Nancy
October 13, 2007
Its a big world out there, often crammed into a small bar.
Heh. Tru dat. I also like your fork metaphor--how many have we missed? or bumped smack dab into?

Quebec is right, although you'd expect a lot more silent letters from those sneaky French bastards.
I didn't see you having the pre-amp problems, I was busy tucking into a fabulous Guinness mushroom steak. I tried to eat some seafood risotto before my set, but the damn thing was full of clamshell pieces! Not something that normally happens at
Sean Kelly's. Happens at the Shack all the time, though. Even when you order spaghetti.
Had to leave at 10:15 to liberate the babysitter, but I did get to hear the snowplow song, my absolute favorite. Listening to Fred's stuff (and, honestly, some of yours) makes me feel like I'm writing ditties, not real songs.
But who doesn't like a good ditty?
f. catmull
October 9, 2007
I considered bad mouthing you briefly when my pre-amp crapped out on me after being doused in beer. But alas, it wasn't you. Avery immediately fessed up, graciously offered to remedy the situation should sound not return from that thing,...and then sure enough, the next day,...after the beer dries up,...pre-amp magically works. God bless the Baggs para-acoustic d.i.
I enjoyed listening to your set, but hated my guitar sound and was feeling like a little baby without a rattle after the pre-amp thing.
Eaglesmith was amazing! I hope he comes back here someday,..although isn't he from Quebec? And how the hell do spell that anyway?
Bob F. Wire
October 8, 2007
HEY! Did I just hear somebody bad-mouthin' me?!? If you were, and you know who you are, you can be assured that punishment will be swift and terrible.
On another note, I enjoyed sharing the bill with you last night, Tom. And thanks for bringing that much needed glass of gin, er, water up to the stage in the middle of my set.
Everyone who missed out on seeing Fred Eaglesmith is to be pitied.
